Who we are
Quiz Byte Interactive (play.quizbyte.app) is run by QuizByte, the team behind the QuizByte YouTube channel. Contact: [privacy contact email to be added].
What we collect and why
- Account details – your email address, display name and a securely hashed password, so you can sign in, verify your account and reset your password. Your email is never shown publicly.
- Quiz activity – your answers, scores and when you played, so we can save your progress, show your results and run the leaderboards.
- Security records – failed sign-in attempts and similar events, stored with a shortened IP address, to protect accounts from abuse.
- Visit counts – we count visits per day and how people arrived (for example via a QR code). These counts contain no personal data and use no tracking cookies.
What's public
Only your display name, scores and rankings. You can opt out of public leaderboards at any time, and you only appear on them once your email address is verified.
Cookies
We use only strictly necessary cookies: one to keep you signed in and one to protect forms from forgery. Embedded YouTube videos load only when you choose to play one, using YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode.
We send only account emails: verification and password resets. No marketing. Emails are delivered by Amazon Web Services (Amazon SES).
How long we keep data
Your account is kept until you delete it. When you delete your account we remove your email, password and public leaderboard entries straight away, and keep your quiz answers only in anonymised form (not linked to you) for overall quiz statistics.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to see, correct or delete your data, or object to how we use it. Contact us using the details above. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
